Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released on the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. On July 21st, 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her create Rihanna references. She was officially signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. In November, she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. The 13th of November, she released two more singles called No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than 3 million times in the first seven days. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
